Grandma Chubby's Stuff

I hope you enjoy my postings. My husband and I are serving a mission in Romania and have had some wonderful adventures. Each of us have experiences in our life that make us different from that time forth. These experiences have done that for us.

Sora Ashby:

We have really ejoyed reading your blog ever since we have been called to serve in Romania. We can't wait to get there and start working. See you end of March. We are stuggling with the language but Brother Forbes is a wonderful teacher.

Dear Sister Ashby,
I am Marie Mines mother Maridean. My husband Grant and I are planning to come to Romania to pick our daughter Marie up when she finishes her service in the Peace Corp some time in late June. As they divided and made two new wards in our stake today at stake conference I couldn't help but think of the small branch in Galati that Marie has told us so much about. She has told us many wonderful things about the missionary work in Romania and we are wondering how we can best help. The branch in Galati is small, I am sure that having the Bryson's there will be a great help to the young elders. Is there anything we can do as we are preparing to come that would be helpful to the mission? We will be bringing our 15 and 24 year old daughters with us. Since it will be a while before we will be able to serve as Sr. missionaries we are hoping that there might be something we could do that will help further the work. Please feel free to contact us or Marie with any ideas.
May you continue to be blessed in your service. Maridean Mines

Sora Ashby,

With the recent passing of President Hinckley and the formation of the new First Presidency, how are the Saints in Romania handling the change?

Sora Ashby,

We love this blog and we are looking forward to the next update for February. We know that your children and family have been patiently waiting for July to roll around. We hope the new mission president and his wife will continue on with this blog, hopefully you can train them before you leave. Thank you for enduring to the end. Our son Elder Holmes arrived on February 5th. and we loved the pictures that you have shown previously of arriving elders. We are looking forward to seeing that he arrived safely.

Sora Ashby,

I am TIm Zemp Dad. He called from the airport on his way to Romania. We assume he arrived safely. He is a marvelous young man and will be a fantastic missionary. Thank-you for your great service. We trust our son to our Heavenly Fathers care and we pray for you just as we pray for our son. Great Blog!

Hi Sora Ashby:

I'm Tara Talmaciu. I married George Talmaciu in December and I will be moving to Romania in 2 weeks. I've checked into your blog a few times and have appreciated getting to know the Lord's work in Romania better. I've met the Brysons and I am so grateful they will be there in Galati. I have lived overseas before (Germany) but I am scared to death of living in Romania because of the big change. (I thought I was going to be single and live in Houston, TX for the rest of my life!) I hope I have the opportunity to meet you before you and your husband go home. I had a grand time in the snow in Bucharest. George and I went to Bucharest via Maxi Taxi because the trains weren't running as I had some business to conduct at the embassy. We made it ok and ran to the embassy to get there before it closed in the morning. George basically dragged me through the snow because I am so short and the snow was pretty deep. We actually made it back to Galati that day via Maxi Taxi. We weren't so sure we would even make it out of Bucharest that day but we did. Quite the adventure!
